  2. my car's modal has a turbo variant, might just get that if i replace the engine (and it's transmission)

  3. So many sour ricers in the comments. They need a little sake to calm down. Proud Vortech owner

  4. I'm more of an efficient guy, and I research each car to see which cars with turbocharged engines are better. So I prefer turbo.

  5. Here I am looking at superchargers because I feel inadequate with my 3.7 2017 Mustang. Due solely to how disrespectful 5.0 owners can be.

  6. Can't trust people without teeth

  7. Dear Sir, I enjoy your videos, which show your knowledge of all things connected with cars, but one thing: a turbocharger is also a supercharger, because it "super charges" the inlet mixture. What you call a "supercharger", I think you should call a "compressor". Unless the American language differs in that respect from the English. And sorry, but a turbocharger is much more efficient than a compressor, what you call a supercharger, that's why racing cars only use turbochargers!

  8. Of course there's a bunch of drag and no room for an intercooler.

  9. Scotty can you take a look at a Mazda 6 3.0 engine, I have a weird exhaust leak and can’t find it.

  10. NA is me. I like to NA tune my car so it revs higher

  11. Hello Scotty. I have a question can you tune a car that before 1996 year model? I have a 1994 ford probe that have had a supercharge that’s been sitting around for over 10 years that I can’t get anyone to install it because they can’t tune it. Thank you.

  12. I'm thinkin' on putting power to my ride, electric power!

  13. So beside the fuel economy arguement, why are diesel trucks not super charged? I hate the turbo lag in my truck. I always seem to find that the turbo kicks in just as the truck is crawling out of the mud and bam, all four wheels break loose and dig me in further. Or its the difference between not enough acceleration, then it kicks and there is far too much and your in the back seat of the prius ahead of you. I feel that super chargers would give the vehicle better control.

  14. no abs in the mustang? lololol

  15. Turbos are great, but they aren’t ‘free power’. And they’re also not more fuel efficient.

When you’re on boost (supercharger OR turbo), you’re burning more fuel. More air in the engine = more fuel required to burn.

The reason modern turbo cars get high gas mileage and power is a misconception. They advertise peak horsepower/ torque, AND max fuel mileage.

Normal day to day driving you’re not using all the power and boost. Normal driving you’re not running on boost at all really.

Try driving on boost and tell me turbos are efficient

Turbos are great but be realistic here people.

Also the fastest accelerating vehicles in the world are supercharged, big block v8s running nitromethane

You want big power? Like 5000+hp. Turbos aren’t going to do it

  16. I agree with you 99% of the time. However, turbo charger is the way to go =)

  17. Stupid question from a complete scrub not even in the US.. I have a 'family' Nissan Qashqai+2 manual shift (2012 or something) I know they don't exist in the states. Anyway it's 1600cc air aspirated engine (did I say that right?). It's also 5 speed only gearbox stock (maybe that could be an issue to tackle as well?)
Cost for cars are silly high here and not much to be found in terms of good used either because in the country people drive their car to the ground before selling it.
My daily commute is around 20 miles, per week I do around 130miles (tiny right)
I was wondering if I could super charge my car given the above. If yes is there a place to buy it from before getting a mechanic to install it locally? What are the risks? – I don't expect to be 'racing'
This model comes in 1.6L and 2L and to be honest the 1.6L is a bit heavy to push particularly when overtaking. I'm assuming with a super charger it will push like a 2.2L ish? Making overtaking smoother, shorter and safer for example.
How bad would it be on the engine/other parts considering everything is stock at the moment?

Thanks for the amazing channel Scotty, really wish I lived nearby in texas to come visit.

  18. Scotty I have a 2000 regal supercharger any ideas for good mods don't damage my car , I don't know where to start .please help

  19. 500hp + supercharger = 1200hp

    W H A T

  20. Russian Serbian Targeted Individual

    vtec is better

  21. I WANT BOTH ON MY CAR

  22. Roots centrifugal and twin screw

  23. when the supercharger lets go.. it sucks all the parts thru the engine.. major engine failure

  24. me I install supercharger on 1.9 diesel?

  25. Who doesnt like to feel that turbo kick in after the lag l

  26. so a hellcat can beat a turbo 1000hp supra?? yea rite

  27. Saying a Supercharger is better is better is subjective..NOTHING beats Turbo if you want to make REAL power. Roots style Supercharging is ONLY better if want a simple street car. Superchargers take away horsepower to turn them. Centrifugals have some lag compared to Roots style. And if you want less lag with a Turbo charger you can always go with a smaller one to work in a shallower power band.

  28. The radiator is on the way so i can't mountain the supercharger

  29. Scotty is cocaine and coffee 🤘

  30. You can use a turbo for efficiency but not a SC? So turbo has multiple uses SC has one. Plus the fastest cars I've seen have turbo

  31. @1:58 ???? What supercharger is not belt driven?

  32. If you want an American muscle car with lots of low end grunt, slam down the accelerator and send up clouds of smoke, squeal those tires so everyone hears you within 10 miles, then super charging is for you. If you want refinement power more along the lines of James Bond, power that begets more power without all the smoking tires, then you want AWD with turbos to put all that power to the road to build speed as fast as possible without all the burning rubber. This is mainly the difference between high powered muscle cars and super cars. Super cars generally have the entire package suspension and breaks to go along with all that power. Muscle cars generally only have power and are built only for burning rubber, cheap so most Americans can afford to have a powerful car, and that cheap comes from leaving off all the rest of the stuff that makes a super car super. The awd cars are also built to carry a lot of that speed around corners. The muscle cars are built to slide around corners in a semi controlled skid.

  33. From what i understand, younger drivers should go for turbo chargers. You feel the turbo kick in from the lag. I know lag is generally regarded as a bad thing, but when youre young and broke, youre gonna appreciate the lag because youll literally feel your money going to work you know? The jump in speed and that whistle feels amazing. But i totally get why older generations appreciate the simplicity of a super charger.

  34. I would love to supercharge my car but honestly I have trust issues I feel like something is going to be done wrong and my engine would be a goner. What you guys think about a 2013 335is being supercharged what would be some pro and cons?

  35. Hi Scotty,

I am interested on supercharging my 1991 Mercedes SL300 (R129) 3.0 6 cylinder. However, i am not sure if it can handle it, what do you think?

    Many thanks,
    Rami

  36. Haven't watched the video, but the claim from the start is just blatantly false. If you have a small engine a supercharger cannot be very big since it will take too much power. If you run a supercharger vs twin turbo in a drag race, with the same setup other than the turbo setup vs supercharger setup the turbo will win. Putting a supercharger on my dad's Land Rover would result in ~10 psi MAXIMUM
But his single turbo makes 25 and could make more

  37. I could argue with you on this one I've owned supercharged cars don't get me wrong I absolutely love them! But, generally you can find a turbo manifold and turbo cheaper than a supercharger and Intake. If you can weld, you can make a turbo manifold yourself! And some eBay turbos can make really good power and actually last a long time for the price vs paying thousands. I've seen $400 turbo making over 500hp. I personally try and stick to name brand, but I've seen some cheap turbo setups making good power for years.

  38. Your retarded

  39. You can install a supercharger in 15mins for the weekend come home and put your factory intake back on for the week days. There way better. The top 10 most unreliable cars on Kelly blue book all have turbos

  40. Do bugatti veyron have turbocharger or supercharger

  41. Procharger in Kansas? 😕 Good thing I live here, I guess.

  42. there's a lot less that can go wrong with the engine when using a supercharger

  43. tell Jay to fix the roof then the ceiling

  44. Sc is better yes agreed but the heat soak is my only issue

  45. Bullshit. Turbos baby!!
